David Saacks has been practicing law for over 30 years. He began his career doing business litigation at a small firm in Dallas, Texas before relocating to the Triangle area of North Carolina, where he served in the District Attorney’s Offices of Durham and later Raleigh. In his 32 years serving the public as a prosecutor, David personally handled just about every kind of criminal case imaginable, including murders, robberies, assaults, burglaries, frauds, and drug offenses, to name just a few. He has extensive jury trial experience and has been involved in numerous other hearings. A simple online search will confirm this extensive public service history.
David has always considered the practice of law as a higher calling, and as such knows the importance of ethics in dealing with clients, the courts, and other counsel. His character and integrity were integral in his appointment by the Governor of North Carolina as the Interim District Attorney for Durham County in 2007 after a challenging time in that office. That character and integrity was confirmed later in Raleigh when David was honored by his peers with the Peter S. Gilchrist Award for Professionalism among statewide prosecutors. Truth, justice, and fairness are bedrock principles for him and he works with those goals in mind.
David has a passion for the rule of law in our society which leads to his outlook described above. You need “passion” to make up “compassion” and David combines his passion about the law with a strong desire to help others in their legal matters. David will meet you where you are in order to help. No case is too big or too small, because your case is the most important matter to you at the moment. After dealing with so many victims and victim families over the years, David understands this very well. The law was created for the purpose to govern people and to help them live better together. Knowing the law does no good unless you know how to help others with that law.
